Hey everyone, im in need of some major help! I have my 960 That the "insert part name" fell off from being too worn from the throttle and the throttle pully. I desperately need this part but i cant find it anywhere! Its the 4 or so inch piece im holding in my hand and its part off the throttle. I cant go to a pick and pull as im on hawaii, Oahu specifically so if someone can either find the part OR bonus points give me a link of where to buy it from that would be greatly appreciated!
Im also very smart but not too mechanically inclined, if you know anything about 960s in general the car has alot of problems i dont know how to solve but id love to talk to someone here who knows 960s so i can better work on my own. I have a Chilton's manual for it aswell.

I hope some expert will provide exact answer soon. I never had 960 myself, so do not consider myself a reputable source. To my eyes it looks like old style throttle body. It is open/close through physical metal cable(from pedal to throtle body). You can adjust it if needed. Linkage that you are holding in your hand is possibly an element of cruise control system which either through electric motor/vacuum moves that linkage up/down and sets speed(it is my assumption, I dont see entire system and cant be 100%). If that linkage is worn/broke, you should be perfectly fine to remove it from throttle body and where it is attaches below(motor/actuator), you will not have cruise control, but should be able to drive just fine.
Check in Chilton manual part diagram of the throttle body unit and you will know what that lower part is.
I am eager to hear from true experts.

Thanks for photo. Now it makes perfect sense. Cable comes from pedal, but since it would be very difficult to incorporate cruise control, they decided to utilize this intermediate "spool". On one side the cable attaches and on the opposite sode the cable from black pear shaped unit( I assume it is vacuum cruise control actuator). Now from this spool, through linkage(one part of which is broken now) movement was transfered to the throtle body below. Those linkages were made similarly to "ball in socket" joint. Plastic overtime got worn and now it is prone to disconnect.

Throttle link rod
Last I checked working on Tricia’s 1998 that linkage rod is not available new
Robert spinner frequents junkyards and can probably find you one, check Volvo parts online to see if the 960 and 850 parties the same.
You could also buy some copper wire and loosely wire the cup in place so it still pivots but doesn’t come off.
Finally, a piece of tissue over the ball might restore the holding power for 8500 miles, then replace. Add a 5000 mile test protocol to your maintenance protocol
Found discussion of the p80 version here, with solutions!

If you're stuck while waiting for the part, some people have 3D printed temporary replacements or had small machine shops cut one out of aluminum. It's not a long-term fix, but it might get you moving until you can source an OEM piece

+1 on suggestion to get one from RobertDIY.... I bought one from him a couple years ago to have as an in-the-car spare for when mine breaks.
