unobtainium? What 850 parts are getting hard to find?

Post by 850turbo95 »

Hello everyone! I just bought an incredibly clean 95 turbo wagon with 93,000 miles. This is my fifth wagon! I really can't believe how beautiful this car is inside and out. It's essentially a museum piece but I plan on driving the heck out of it.
I'm wondering if anyone can give me a heads up about what parts are starting to get really hard to find so I can stock up on them before I really need it.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks everyone, I'm super excited to get back into Volvos.

- Tim

Look at your colour code on the plate under the hood, left side of the car.

The code will tell you the paint
Empty Nester
A Captain in a Sea of Estrogen
1999-V70-T5M56 2005-V70-M56 1999-S70 VW T4 XC90-in-Red

It might as well have been from the little old lady in Pasadena - I just bought it in San Diego, it's been southern California garage kept for 30 years. The plastic on the car isn't even faded. I think the story goes something like this: someone owned it for 23 years, averaged less than 3000 miles a year and then sold it to the Volvo tech at the dealership that did all the maintenance on it. Then two years ago a gentleman in San Diego bought it, did the timing belt all new hoses new intake manifold etc before he sold it to me. It has tons of maintenance records meticulously compiled in a binder. It's really a unicorn, pics don't do it justice

I think the previous owner is on this forum somewhere maybe he'll chime in with the true origin story which I'm almost guaranteed to have messed up a little

So no one has had any serious trouble trying to find any particular parts for a 95 850? I've been searching random parts on the internet as they come to mind and haven't seemed to anything unavailable. Rebuilt turbos are readily available, intercoolers you can still get new (for a thousand bucks 😬)
