Rack and Pinion needed 96 855t

A beaten to death subject but it appears I need a steering rack, family owned clean wagon since 99, lived in the SE US. Vehicle is in pretty darn good shape with tons of desirable add ons but if it's difficult to find a rack I'll have to let the car go, a specimen way to good for the boneyard. Any ideas? Somewhere there lives a NIB OEM Volvo rebuild, I need to find it or the car will go to someone willing to undertake this struggle. Ideas, encouragement, etc. welcome, thanks. It's in VA.

Detroit Axle, United rack, there are a bunch of options in a recent thread. Volvo steering racks are no longer available new , though. Plan on $200-250 for a decent one. Avoid Cardone.

Bumped the thread. You need to carefully preserve the coupler ftom rack to steering column on these cars, that’s NLA.

My mantra is to remove it inside the car, then carefully get it off the rack working up on the bench
