Ditto that. They slide on to the rails and the clip hold s them in place

Today, i've taken down the fuel tank to get access to this hose... I'm gonna change it for a new brake hose, and by the way, i will also replace all the fuel lines hoses, which seem to be as old as the car...

Buying a new battery today. Old one would lose 20% charge a day just sitting, not even in the car

Some interesting but worrying behavior while driving. Brake pedal feel was not consistent, sometimes taking more than the usual pedal pressure, sometimes less.
I changed the brake hoses with minimal if any change but now I suspect it may be the brake booster, or worse, the brake master.

Yup. that is not what it should be doing. The possible issues I am sure you have considered are:
1) ECU - I believe you have swapped in an alternate to see what happens. I assume you have the same result with that.
2) ETM - If you have not swapped that out, that is where I would be looking to or a wiring issue to the ETM from the ECU.

Installed new Bosch FR7DC+ spark plugs. Always an enjoyable job, great access from the top. The trickiest part is getting the plastic cover back over the spark plug wires underneath the turbo air pipe.

I painted my car the weekend before this one. Been away a week and got back on friday, I had a fresh look at the tailgate again and the orange peel was just too much to live with. But I put down a lot of coats so should be no problem color sanding it down.

Results so far with P1500, I can go at it until he pattern disappears entirely for a flat look. Though I think I might leave a little and not have it entirely flat. I'll go up to P2000 and P2500 before polishing.

After color sanding and polishing with Meguiars 105/205. It's ironic, it looks great in the photos, worse in real life. I guess because IRL I can move about and see the light change over the imperfections still remaining. I messed up the clear coat stage on this one, it was just too cold and I didn't preheat my clear, I should have put the effort into doing it but I didn't and now I am paying for it. IIRC the gunman on youtube preheats his clear to like 50C when it's cold. Mine was room temp which was maybe 13-14 C.
It will have to do for now. Maybe next year when I have things better set up in my shop (hopefully), I want to repaint the roof anyway because it has a big patch done by the previous owner which doesn't match at all. I've done small spot fixes too around the rails but that's mostly to keep it from getting worse.

I moved on to reassembling the roof rails back on after this. The cover went back on fine here. Note new screws, stainless 5x40mm M5 screws and not Volvo. Will see how they hold up. I just realized I need to go back and put on anti-seize.

Anyway every other cover will not fit, not quite sure why this one doesn't go back in like the first one.

The other four though, they got broken on removal. I suppose I could find new ones or maybe I'll try some butyl cord.

I was also reassembling the inside of the hatch and the locking mechanism but I am missing a part, a tiny locking washer that seems to have disappeared, keeps the linkage for the door latch in place. Without it, it can let go and the latch will stop working.
I moved on to the exhaust instead of wasting more time on it right now. There's a bodge job further up that I want to look at, because it leaks. Looks like two patches and I was thinking I could replace it with just one patch.
Had to cut away a lot of parts, rusted stuck.

About as far as I will get tonight.

I'll likely start with replacing all the vacuum related parts for the brake booster. I reseated the elbow at the booster itself, rotated it a little, and the inconsistency went away
