Basically, +100 to scot850's post. I'd check:

1. Lawn mower syndrome. The car barely ran then stopped. Nothing to suggest timing slipped there from my reading.

2. If you're really wondering about timing, put the crank on the mark by hand and then check the slots on the back of the cams for proper timing. This bypasses the sprocket marks.

I guess the most conservative approach is check 2 first, then when the timing looks good treat it like lawn mower syndrome and see if that gets it running.

Found the timing marks and timing looks good (your correct almost impossible to see). Suspect lawnmower syndrome as well. With injectors unplugged we can get start the car with quick start but once we plug the injectors back in it dies. any suggestions on the no start? Cap and rotor. plugs and plug wires only a year old. getting good spark because we tested with tester and when doing a visual spark test flames were shooting out of the spark holes.

If you have tried starting with oil in the bores as suggested, then I'd check for fuel. Are you getting around the 43 psi at the rail? If you are, is the injector relay working? Check the wiring to it is not corroded and broken. It sits on the top of the radiator.
