I got the first half of the PCV system replacement done. I'm going to spend some time cleaning up the engine and replacing the wiring protection before I put it all back together. Judging by the puddle of fluid and active drip coming from the steering rack, I guess I know what project is next.

Little brother helped me drop the t5 back in the v50. Got the angle gear and rear driveshaft hooked up, as well as most of the accessory drive. Hopefully will have it running before the new year.

New right hand motor mount was delivered today, but with the blowing snow, and cold it's going to sit inside. Also, I have a cold, so nope, not even thinking of doing it today.

Took a road trip down to the twin cities over the weekend and ended up driving through some of the blizzard that hit the area on Sunday. Car took it like a champ naturally, lots of cars in the ditch!

Finally got my do88 hose kit to replace my old oil soak torn factory hoses. They look pretty sharp. Fitment was a little tight but went together well. Spent most of the time destroying the turbo short hose and clamp since someone installed it with the bolt head touching the exhaust. This made it impossible to get a socket or screwdriver on it. While these hoses needed replacement, it did not fix my wierd rough idle. Once my fuel gauge adapter comes in, will test the pressure again.

Well that is not ideal. Are the screws missing from it?

I'm new here, don't know how to start a new thread, but can add some relevancy here since I did work on one of my Volvos today -- 2008 Xc90 ....my daughters - I bought it for her/in great condition until she slid off the road in a snow storm....any way....she cracked the radiator, had a guy who rents a buy install a new one....that's when all hell broke loose -- slammed down my hood while I was standing there and wrenched it/then washed hands of the problem he created...took me days to get it open -- snapped release cable in the process -- now have to replace that. It appears when he installed the radiator -- he trapped the cable portion going over to the passenger side. But even more importantly -- after he installed radiator -- temperature gauge doesn't work (just sits limp) and no heat. Any thoughts? Radiator is going to have to come back off because of the trapped bonnet cable, but I'm thinking he didn't hook something up right or broke something...I had him doing work previously and I ended up with post-repair problems, so definitely possible.

Welcome AliceG.
Sorry you had a bad mechanic experience. Will you be doing any of your own wrenching?
I think the temperature gauge and heater problem may be improper coolant filling. Check the level again and refill as needed. With the coolant cap off, squeeze the top radiator hose and see if it belches air into the coolant tank. Keep repeating and filling until you get no more air and the level stays at full.

To start a new post, got to Volvo Forums (just under Matthew's Volvo Site logo), select your appropriate forum (XC 90 !st generation), and then click the blue New Post box.
