No communication from forum member

Post by Dub24 »

I recently posted a request for a steering wheel for my 98 V70 t5. I received a reply via PM from a member here who requested my email to send on photos etc.
We communicated via email and agreed a price which I transferred to his brothers Revolut account. The last email I had was on the 21st of January saying he'll post it and forward on tracking details.
I have emailed him numerous times and sent private messages numerous times as well. I can see from his profile he has been on here a number of times. Unfortunately he hasn't responded and I'm beginning to think I've been stitched up.

I have reached out to a moderater but have to hear any news from him.
If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it
Cheers

Hey folks what's the story. No suggestions or anything. Is it ok that a forum user has potentially ripped me off as there is has been no communication since the 17th of January and even a moderater hasn't doesn't anything despite been notified of the situation.

I Just checked and the chap was on here yesterday at 14.04 and numerous other times so has definitely seen all my PM's

This type of carry on is unacceptable in my book on a forum where we are supposed to help and advice each other not rip each other off

I’d suspect as you are you have been scammed if there is no communication. Post count on the member more than a dozen? I’d be suspicious of any member with a lower post count.

@Dub24 I missed your Feb 9 post.

address: Airtel HQ Building
address: A-Banana, 5th Floor, Wing B
address: Plot L2, Foreshore Estate, Banana Island

That's the IP address lookup for this user's April 2025 registration and throughout his post history. I'll ban the IP address in 72 hours unless you get some communication with him and by some miracle this turns out to be legitimate. Sorry this happened. I can't remember the last time I got a report of a MVS scam.

I haven't heard of this happening here before. I would hope that whoever the deadbeat is, that they will be outed by management so no one else falls prey to this thief, as well as being banned from the forum.
I would actually be willing to contribute in order to make OP whole again.

That's very kind of you. There is no need to contribute to my losses. To be honest the 100 euros I lost I can live without. It's the thought of getting scammed that really annoys me and not getting a steering wheel is even more annoying 😀

I'll just mark it down to experience 1st time in over 25 years. He Ho

I have a 1998 Volvo V70 t5 with a grey steering wheel that's past it's prime. I was looking for a black one.

I'm currently in communication with a chap in the UK through Facebook. He is involved with the Volvo owners club on there and has come verified as honest to me.

Apparently the C70 2002 to 2005 wheel with fit my car which is what he has. I'm waiting for some good pictures to ascertain the condition of the wheel. If it turns out to be not good enough ,I have an alternative plan.

I got a price from a company in the UK to send my old one over for a recover in black leather. All in it will cost about 230 euros delivered back.

You are very good to offer to send me one baby the time I cover postage not to mention import duties vat etc it will probably be a similar price.
I really appreciate your offer though
