Renewed Validation

Post by junisa »

Hello All, I cannot say how much this forum have given me a renewed validation of owning a volvo. I currently do not own one but have loved owning one for a long time now. I have seen an 1994 850 with 230k miles (kinda pushing me away becoz of the miles) but the car is in good shape. Another motivation is that I could buy this car for less than 1k. Test drove it and it ran well. No cosmetic damages and evrything pretty much works. Would love to buy the car but I am still apprehensive because of the high miles considering the reputation of high $$ repair costs if I was to have one. Question is what should I look for mechanically to ensure that the vehicle is sound? Thanks again for the great board everyone.

The timing belt should have been changed at 70,140,& 210K. Are there stickers on the cover to indicate that or any maintenance records?

A CARFAX report will tell you how many owners, when maintenance was performed at the dealer, and if it has been in any collisions that were reported to the police. Well worth the $25.
