Cross Country Stink
I have 1998 Cross Country Wagon - My car has had a problem with emissions sulfur smell (like rotten eggs) for some time. It has gottne worst over the years. Volvo tells me is the gas and that cheaper gas should fix the problem. Well, that has not had much of an effect and I am at my wits end and fear that I will have to fit my family for gas masks to take a ride to church! HELP! I love my car but cannot take this any longer. Has anyone encountered this issue and resolved it? Its it all about the gas??

Have you changed the place from where you buy gas? Typically sulfur smell is caused by one of two things:
1. Bad front o2 sensor causing very rich A/F ratio
2. Bad catalytic converter or exhaust leak at the downpipe flange or somewhere before the catalytic converter.
I would install a new o2 sensor if I were you. If that doesn't fix the problem after about 300 miles, buy a Magnaflow catalytic converter on eBay and have an exhaust shop weld it in. Is the car turbo'd or N/A?
