Hmmm, I never thought about the injectors, a few friends have heard it and they said it sounded like valves.

When I cleaned the PCV system I broke one of the fuel lines, I replaced it with a similar fuel grade hose. Were the factory part had a natural curve, after about four months, mine developed a kink.

Do u think this may affect the pressure, thus causing the sounds, or is there a link here that could explain it to me?
I have a limited budget so all repairs must be done by me.
I used this site for the PCV job, and a shift solonoid B replacement, anything u recommend I will try to my best ability.

I hope to have a picture of my 850 up soon.

As I drive the car the sound seems to be triggered by the rpms.
When I'm going up a steep slope the sound will begin, "rattling" as I hear it, I can limit how long the noise lasts by adjusting the pressure I apply to the accelerator, less pressure or more pressure and it goes away depending on how steep the grade is,
If that helps u at all.

It definitely sounds like pre-ignition. Higher Octane fuel first and add some Chevron Techron and it should eliminate it. Do not drive it too long like that as it can damage the engine severely depending on how bad it is!!!!!

I just want to say thanks, the 93 octane did the trick!
I will bite the bullet and only run it from now on.

Hmmmm. If you ever have to do a PCV job, replace both of your knock sensors. They're definitely not doing their job.

In the mean time, have you replaced plugs recently? Their gap may be way off - should be .030".

You can also use octane booster to get your octane up if you have a tank of lower grade fuel in there.

I tell people all the time that they are suppose to use 91+ octane, especially in the non-turbo cars but everyone just blows me off. If the knock sensors are not working good, you will get knock but IMO you're causing other strain and damage that will show up sooner or later.

Do check your spark plugs and wires. The wires have a date on them, week/year. If they are 17 years old please change them. I usually change mine every 7 years or 90k. Also, I usually gap my plugs to .028" as outlined in the owners manual.

Just started this same, in gear RPM variable "knocking", issue this morning in my 04 S60 (201,000 miles!). Trying the octane boost first.
Just changed jobs and working closer to home and downtown city driving from my usual 200 mile commute, no opportunity to hit the "carbon cleaning" speeds...
