Hello, I have a bad CPS, bought the part, the guy at the garage told me that it would be easy to replace myself... sure. I got the top half off the car, how do you get- where do you get the plug part off?? please someone tell me how to do this and don't tell me it's too hard..

It shouldn't be complicated. What do you mean by...."got the top half off the car"? Can you post a picture that shows where you are having difficulty?

It sounds like you are doing something wrong here. The cam sensor is located on the back side (driver side) of the engine, just under the upper torque mount. It is held in with 2 bolts and that is it.
Please post a picture when you get a chance because it sounds like you are not doing something right.

Here is a link to instructions on replacing the seal behind the sensor. Just ignore everything beyond the pictures and instructions for removing the sensor itself. As FCP says, it's pretty simple.

That is what you need to take off, 2 screws, they are T40.
I found it easier if you rock it out with a flat head screw driver.

im not sure we are talking about the same thing. so i am posting these pictures. its obvious to me where the metal thumb looking part goes, the plug part- as you can see here in the photo seems to just disappear into nothingland. Thank you all for all of your help!!

That isn't the cam position sensor. That is the RPM sensor which is sometimes called the crankshaft position sensor.
