Hi all.
I've just bought myself a '99 V70 Estate (xlt) which overall I'm absolutely chuffed to bits with. Cracking condition, perky to drive compared to my old Rover 75 and acres of room.
My problem is this. It's bloody cold for miles from a cold start. It takes an absolute age to heat up. Unless I'm stuck in traffic the temp gauge hardly moves, and even with the climate control at full pelt the heater at best is only luke warm.
Any advice for a Volvo newbie please?
New (Cold) member - a little advice please?

What do the different degree's mean about the thermostats? On FCP's site there are three different t-stats rated at 87, 90, and 92 degrees. What do they mean?

My old thermostat was original one when i replaced it because it was stuck open.It was 87 degrees celsius Vahler Volvo.
I believe that higher temperature thermostats are more apropriate for cold weather area all year round because the heating is starting earlier than with lower degree thermostats.

This is also a great opportunity to replace the temp sensor.
It's right in the same area and well worth doing now.

What's the difference between that and the thermostat?

The thermostat actually regulates the engine temperature by how much coolant it allows to flow through. What's the difference between that and the thermostat?
The ECT tells the ECU what the engine coolant temperature is so that it can make fuel trim decisions (injector pulse duration) to keep the car running. The colder the engine is the richer it wants to run.
