Spark Plugs/Wires?

Spark Plugs/Wires?

I have a 95 volvo 850, Do I have to stay with OEM parts on the wires and plugs or can I get for ex. NGK Wires?

:!: Don't use any other kind of wires...Bougicord OEM only!

Spark plugs you've got a bit of choice, many reccomend the Bosch Copper plugs as they're cheap and work well. They need to be replaced more often than the Volvo plugs, though.

Sp Plug wire: Bougicord only.
Sp Plugs: Bosch Platinum

OEM Volvo plugs seem to work the best
2000 V70R Black, 144,000 miles Wife's R.
2007 V70 2.5T White/Oak 111,000 MILES. Polestar tune, IPD bars, rear spoiler, dark grey Thors, DWS 06, HU850, sub.

late to the party but since this is here from the stage 0 post, What are the big differences with plug wires, mine were original on my 98 s70, dated 97 im thinking to change them but why? i want to know if theres a real difference ill notice?

The only real difference that I noticed with changing the wires on the last car I did was that I got rid of the misfires that came with the Bosch wires that were on the car. When I first got picked up the '94 it had some originals and some individual Bosch replacements. I replaced them all with brand new Bosch wires and the mileage dropped by about 20% and it misfired like crazy when cold and at high RPMs. Replaced the brand new Bosch wires with a new set of Bougicords and it was all good again. If it is running OK now then you won't see a huge difference but they do wear out eventually.

The only spark plug wires I've used other than Bougicords are the 8mm IPD versions. I will concur with others that the best plug you can get for these cars are O/E, but if you are in a pinch I've had good luck with copper versions as well. Otherwise, expect a lot of misfires.

Wires must be OEM Bougicord.
Spark plugs....oem Volvo are the best,but you can use NGK or Bosch copper ones.
