coolant level sensor

Post by kringer2 » Sat Feb 26, 2011 8:20 pm

Has anyone tried to bypass the sensor just to turn the light off? I just don't want to by a new sensor/overflow tank.

all you do is unplug the sensor from its connector under the coolant reservoir.

You could just pull the indicator light.

Personally, I'd get it fixed. I'd like to know if I was cruising on the freeway and I suddenly lost all my coolant...

Call up Erie Vo-Vo and you can get a working used part with a lifetime guarantee for cheap.

I have fixed mine (on one of them) by just giving the overflow tank a good sharp whack with my palm to dislodge the stuck sensor free.

So far so good in my case.

thanks for the replys. I've smacked it a few times, but it is now always on. I'll look into replacing it soon - but for now I hate seeing that light. I always check the coolant level when I check the oil, about every other tank of gas.
