When you have the panel off, can you see anything moving when you press the buttons on the remote?

One thing that worked a long time for me was to push the door hard forward at the same time I was pulling the release. That began working only sometime, but got better after I lubed the catch when I had it open.

As someone pushes the release button, try pulling up on the trunk at the same time. See if you can get it open that way. I had an issue like this and once . Once opened I sprayed white lithium grease into the mechanism and got the all lubed up and it has worked fine since then.

it's possible that one of the struts/springs may be out or discharged. if you click it, can you then open it from the back if you pull it up?
