Hello, I have a 98 s70 GLT, i have completed stage 0 and have ordered a 16t and ARD Green tune (17 psi).
Being a teenager, I will of course keep my foot down. I realize how much wear and tear this causes and want to know things I can do to keep up with it. I want to keep this car for a long time, preferably until it is regarded as a classic. (Loooooooonnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggg time) so of course i need it to avoid bad things.
What are some steps i can take to prevent wearing out my engine? I mean in addition to regular maintenance and such.
I already plan to do seafoam on every oil change, could this back fire(seals and such)?
Thank you!

Regular maintenance is really all you need to do. Some people change oil a little more often, some use synthetic (I do). A oil cooler and tranny cooler would be 2 real good things to do if you plan to keep your foot in it. I would NOT suggest seafoaming the car that often. Probably every 50,000 on a well maintained car is plenty. Seafoam treatment is usually for cars that have had poor maintenance history. Keep your PCV system serviced, boosting often puts a strain on that system.
Also, you may want to keep some extra money around for tickets. The public service team is out in strong numbers these days. A good radar detector will help but the last time I got a ticket radar wasn't even used.

Thank you. I have yet to do PCV but its not bad, you have to concentrate to see the smoke. I'll do some research on the tranny and oil coolers. No on the seafoam, thank you. i live in an area where cops do not care so much about speeding, i have never gotten a ticket and believe me, i should have. I also dont do it often enough to warrant buying a system like that. thanks for the advice!

If you have to concentrate to see any smoke you need to do it ASAP
You should NOT see any smoke at any time

Its an interesting topic: the proverbial "little old lady's" car that only gets driven to church on Sunday is found and in miraculous shape after decades.
The reason for that is because "thrashing" a car puts wear and tear on it. Not just the engine, but everything. HArd accelerations, aggressive turns, rapid braking. These all exert large forces on the chassis and suspension of the car. Stomping the gas at a green light puts all that torque into pushing the car forward, the whole suspension feels that force.
Its more than engine and transmission. The bushings and bearings of the suspension feel it too.

I'd worry the most about your transmission with that kind of abuse.

PCV isn't too bad! Just a thought for you, if you decide on a catch can make sure the hoses are the big enough diameter! I put one in mine and the hoses and fittings were to small. Effect was every time I would lift off the throttle fast after boosting it would smoke bad! Bigger hoses and fittings it's ok!

Alright, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately i have a cyl 5 misfire, and its noticable. so im solving that, and any other issue before installing the tune and turbo. thank you!
