Want 95 850 taillights on 94 850, (pics here) possible?

I had a 96 850, and I loved the center connecting piece between the two lights that ran along the trunk bottom. Also, the 95-97 lights looked more refined. They did away with the yellow blinker lens. I sold that car with 260k, and now I have a 94 with 89k. That was the only difference body-wise, and I'm hoping someone knows if the lights would fit, and the centerpiece for that matter. Here are two pics, but if you know the answer, you probably don't need to see these! I might just go to the pick-n-pull and experiment there. I know there's one of each model year. Thanks in advance ~

This is the 94:

I had a similar tail light issue/preference years ago on a different car so I understand your thoughts.

I don't think my (daughter's) '95 850 looks like either of those, however. I am going from memory and will have to look again next time she drives over but, if I recall on her '1995:
- the tail lens is without the yellow blinker - its red and white only
- the tail lens does NOT have that picture frame around it
- the inner part of the two-piece lens looks like the 1994 version and does not have the picture frame
- there is no center connecting piece

Hers is a base model 1995 850 so maybe its part of the GLT trim to add those cosmetic touches.

Well, I went to the pick n' pull and got the 95-97 tail lights and center trunk connector. The only mod involved removing a tab on each lighting harness with a pair of snips (photos included). The center piece was a little tricky, I had to make sure it was center, and a little pulling was involved. I will align the center piece with the bottom of the trunk better on my next day off. This is an easy installation that will give your 93-94 850 the refinement Volvo saw in their design change from 95-97. Cheers!

Now the only way you can tell it's a 94 is the center console with the four cup holders, and the black dash top of course.

very nice mod.

About that center piece: Is it a separate trim that wraps around the inner lenses? In other words are there five pieces in total or are there three pieces and the center lens-bar-lens is one integral piece?

There are only three pieces. I found that loosely screwing in the bottom two screws first closest to the bumper, then pulling to fit the top two screws closest to the trunk lid was the easiest way to install the center piece. From there, tightening the top screw on each side making sure the center of the 1st side was flush with the metal, then the bottom screw on each side was the easiest way to align the center piece. The lights however, fit right in.
