If the kids just broke the fob case, you're in good shape.
New cases can be purchased at IPD or on eBay.
If they crunched the electronics, it's gonna cost more.
Once you obtain replacements, you'll have to visit
a dealer to have them "introduced" to your car.
Although they use the same 9166200 remote, the cars have different systems.
The '98 is an older, simpler system that can recognize a used remote.
They're usually pretty easy to find on eBay, but many have bad cases.
'98 and '00 models require a new remote, shipped with a fob code.
You're pretty much stuck with a Volvo dealer for one of these.

so I have a 98 C70, I have one FOB that I had to buy a replacement case for from IPD. I would like to get another back up FOB and was looking to get a used one off ebay. I know the dealer will have to program, but that has to be cheaper than buying new form them? I am just concerned that one off ebay will not work. one seller noted YOU MUST MATCH FCC ID ON YOUR ORIGINAL REMOTE FCC ID # HYQ1512J. since I do not have the original case how do I find that FCC # ? I took the fob apart and looked at the inerts and do not see anythign noted. Please advise
