1995 850 Sun Visor!

Post by Oddbob » Thu Apr 25, 2013 6:53 pm

Yeah, not your normal thread - my mom broke the sun visor... off.

I went to pull a part and found a nice one to replace it with. I got the screws off but I was unable to find where to unplug it. After a few minutes of careful examination, I tugged on the wire to try to get some slack and the plastic on the A-pillar flew off at me. This is when I noticed the wire goes all the way from the sun visor to beneath the dash pad. This is also when I said screw that, and just cut the wire.

Needless to say I won't be as half-assed with my own car, but does anyone know where it actually plugs in? I'd prefer lights above the mirror to work. If it's too involved, I'll just learn how to solder as I think I have plenty of wire to work with.

Thoughts?

Edit: My forum etiquette needs some work. After a search I found what I was looking for - http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... php?t=7831. Why Volvo, why must this wire be so long and difficult to get to!

I am assuming the '95 isn't much different that the '98 in which case it plugs in right at the base of the windshield at the bottom of the windshield pillar. The wire goes down the length of the pillar, held by a few plastic clips, and the actual connector is at about dash level.

If you plan to cut the wire on your car, be sure to disconnect the battery so you don't short something out or blow a fuse.
