Ah, I see what you mean. I didn't think of the CV boot though - I thought antifreeze, but you could easily be right. I guess antifreeze wouldn't stay green like that.RussB wrote:See the green grease? Spreading out from the rotating CV boot

I guess I will just monitor the front engine mount for the time being.
Yes, it's true the CV boot split about two years ago and I replaced it with the Volvo boot kit and it's fine now. There is still some leftover grease in the area.
The waterpump didn't seem to be leaking when I removed it... I couldn't see any obvious signs of problems: The timing belt replacement job went pretty well. The only hitch was at the end when I tried to install a new serpentine belt and I found that the belt was labeled Conti 6K1743 on the cardboard sleeve but stamped 6K1740 on the actual belt. The serpentine belt was the wrong belt in the right package! It was too short to fit, so I put the original belt back on for now until I can get the right size belt.
