Not too bad, you can pry out the old seal by puncturing it with a screw. There are some threads (!) on this in the VRD

i owned a 2000 XCawdV70 that shuddered during middle-to-heavy acceleration.
i was chasing around for the cause for more than a year. throttle body, nope; plugs or coil packs, nope; fuel filter or pump pressure, nope...
it turned out to be a damaged tire steel-belt and a warped/damaged rim. one of my tires rode just fine in town or on the highway with no significant wobble or 'unbalanced' tire feel to it but when i had them balanced at a different shop they spun it up to wicked rpm's like 100 mph and it simply would not balance. (i'm guessing the Firestone at the end of my road only spun up to 56-60 or so) anyhow, when the tire technician guy removed the tire from the rim to inspect it also found that the rim had a subtle warp/damage to the inner lip. these two things combined to produce my weird acceleration wobble. after i replaced the tire and found a round salvage rim the shudder disappeared.

Is it road speed dependant or engine rev dependant? Does each gear produce the same hesitation?
