I am new to this site and just purchased a 1995 Volvo 850 base wagon. I plan on making a more detailed post later this week/weekend, but for now I am wondering how to remove the side mirror control buttons from the center console. The previous owner wasn't particular about cleanliness, apparently. The passenger side mirror will not move up or left and I suspect it's because of debris (it's noticeable around both buttons, though the driver side operates satisfactorily. I am assuming that something was spilled on the console at some point and it's just gummed up. I used a flat piece of cardboard to skirt around the edges and remove debris, but it still isn't fully operational. Any help would be appreciated.
P.s. I tend to ramble and give too many details, so apologies in advance for any unnecessarily long posts.

The window window and mirror switches all come out as one assembly but you really need to remove the center console to remove the assembly. I have been able to get both gummed up window and mirror switches working again without removing the assembly by literally drowning them in contact cleaner from the top and then moving them back and forth until the crud gets dislodged.
From the factory there was no cup holder (none whatsoever) on the '95 but everyone added one to the center console lid and at that point the unfortunate choice for the window switches came into play. Strategically located directly below the cup holder.
