Just wanted to say Thank you!

Post by Caspar » Tue Apr 26, 2016 9:46 am

Hi,

I recently bought a '97 V70 N/A 2V with 220.000 km on it. When I got it, the timing belt was about 10 years and 100k km old, car did run fine though. However, thanks to this forum (special thanks to Ozark Lee for his great write up!), it was actually fun to replace the timing belt and water pump. Many great tips here that helped a lot!

Also, had the abs module fail (abs lights on), replace with a refurbished one I found here.

Next thing was a check engine light (the 'lambda light' for european model) and starting problems, the 3000 Euro (!) Bosch OBD2 reader from my Indy shop couldn't read the code. However, this http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/codes- ... hingy.html worked perfectly, see attached photo for my version of it. Turns out it was a failed camshaft sensor, replaced and now everything is great since a few thousand km.

Again, just wanted to thank you! Keep up this nice forum!

Welcome to MVS! A lot of the guys on hear are true enthusiasts and take a chunk of their own time to do right ups on repairs which makes it great for the rest of us! They are all to be applauded!!

I am curious, a 96 (!) V70?? I knew in Europe they often got some models earlier than NA, but I thought even there the V70 only came out in 97? My parents had an 850 wagon, and it was a 96 year.

Just checked the title - the car was first registered March 1997, the 'general operating permit' is from Nov 1996. So you are right - This makes this a '97 V70, I guess.
