Alarm Bypass Override Trigger Problem Solved?

Post by BULLOGNA » Sat Jun 11, 2016 5:19 pm

Ok so let me intorduce myself I have 20 years in electrical controls relay logic plc trouble shooting service and sales .so I bought a 1998 volvo V70 XC NON CHIPPED KEY that when I got it home the alarm freaked out could not get the alarm to shut off key did not work and NO key fob it did shut off the next morning .so I hunted high and low to get a answer from the internet a few pieces here and there but no way to overide the system as a whole .

So after the last few days of not locking the door and when I did the alarm would arm and when I would use the key to unlock the door it was hit and miss the alarm would shut off other times the alarm would not shut off .

A used door acuator was bought and few inches of the harness so I could ohm it out and find the trigger wire that would turn the alarm on when the door is locked with the key or the button is pushed on the door panel. I quickly plugged the two electrical connectors in and used a screw driver to turn the lock assy and the alarm shut off great news.

BUT I STILL DONT WANT THE ALARM .So after ohming the unit out the wires go to the gray 4 pin connector inside the door on the lock acuator so I unplugged the 4 pin gray connector for giggles and put the assy back together and tried to arm the alarm the door locked but the alarm did not arm.

So what we have here is a failure to communicate we are not overiding the alarm we are not bypassing the alarm we are just not giving the alarm the arm trigger signal so the alarm just sits there as if the doors are not locked and does not arm itself .

The small down side that I have found you cant use the key to unlock all the doors from drives outside lock you have to unlock drivers door first then push the button to unlock the other doors the other item interior light will not shut off when door is closed interior light switch has to be off .For me these are isuues I can live with I need the car to start.THE ALARM DOES NOT ARM WILL NOT WORK no keyless entry

The upside never get stranded in a no start situation all other items work on the car at this time windows ,locks ,sunroof ,radio ,heated seats , wipers ,turn signals ,lights ,fuel door , seats.

I hope this help someone who has the same intermittent problem with there alarm and wants there car to start

THE ALARM MUST BE OFF FOR THIS TO WORK NO FLASHING LITES
REMOVE DOOR PANEL ON DRIVERS DOOR
FIND ACUATOR AND GRAY 4 PIN CONNECTOR REMOVE 4 PIN CONNECTOR

I have been unable to find a down side I just need my car to start

Thanks for the writeup.
Does anyone know if that would work on 850ies as well?
Because 850ies don't have a door lock button, and I think they did change the alarm system sometime.

On most of the 850s you can just remove the 210/211 relay and then install a jumper wire between the socket positions associated with pins 50e and 50f on the 210 side of the relay. Volvo actually sells a dummy 210 relay that has the wire built into it.

The relay is located on the lower central electrical unit which is inside of the car, mounted high on the firewall, just below the fuse box that is on the outside of the car. There are fancier Guard II / Guard III alarm systems, usually on the European versions, and I don't think that the easy method works on the cars equipped with the optional alarm systems.

so I have a update for this fix I wanted to see if I could get the gray plug plugged back in and just cut the trigger wire .so I have been unable to find a wiring diagram for the car so take what I say with a grain of salt .I ohmed the acuator out the gray plug has the smaller 4 wires are what I would call control wires and I belive the arm/trigger wire that ARMS the alarm is the YELLOW/GRAY marked #2 on the gray plug .I cut this wire and and plugged the unit back in to the acuator I noticed my courtesy light came back and the alarm does not ARM ...
