Hey papasal, switching the air conditioning on puts more load on the engine. Some cars you barely notice the difference and some cars get bogged down and struggle under the extra load. Generally the extra load will increase engine rpms and raise temperatures and thus the cooling system (which the automatic transmission also relies on to cool it's atf) will run at higher temperatures and can present issues like hard shifting particularly in a seasoned vehicle. I'm assuming the air conditioning compressor is in good shape, System is correctly charged, serpentine belt in good condition, belt tensioner providing correct tension, pulleys etc. any issues there that you've had? I remember you had replaced one of your axles, how has the trans been other than when the air is on?
Always first off the line, while all the cool people are still staring at their phones.
