Greetings. If you are wanting to replace the factory radio with an aftermarket , check Cartoys or Crutchfield for dash kit and "plug in and play " wiring harness. Unless you are doing a killer custom system , the a/c control unit doesn't have to be moved. Just be sure to check the aftermarket head fits dash space.

No such kit exists.
You're in total custom territory.

what I am thinking is using an android stereo and get advantage of all its futures, in other words it requires to be able to see and interact with the screen without too much effort. The current place of the stereo is not convenient, it requires too much time to look at down and the road again. If it was much higher position it would be much easier.

Probably the dream place for an entertainment system would be in dashboard, having full electronic digital speedometer, all gigdes with multimedia screen, those days are not far away for new cars, even some models already have it but not for old cars. on the other hand if a manufacturer comes with such a design i would gladly buy it.

It seems I need to go to junkyard and play around whether I can come up with something...

Thanks u guys.

Where does one go for custom dash kit? I would like to do something like take radio (aftermarket crap that doesn't work) and replace it with something like an iPad (mini most likely) to pair up with my iPhone. I've seen people do this before but the iPad pretty much fit directly into their dash with minor customizing they were able to do them selves with a dremel.

iPad kits:

I put an Android unit from Joying in my XC. With just a tiny bit of sanding, the bezel in the box fit like a glove. While being up high would be nicer, It works ok for me for nav and the like. Otherwise you're looking at removing that entire section of the dash and fabricating something (or hacking it up in place and going from there. The general method is to take some plywood, cut to fit, route the edges, skim with Bondo, paint, done. Brackets are going to be some work as well.

For reference.
