Help with C70 convertible top

Post by tango_1000 »

My 2004 C70 top stopped working. The last time was working, yesterday, it opened and closed ok, but then the back side, where the back window is, didn't closed, so i pulled it down manually. Then i used the volvo tool recommended and looked it from the left hole in the trunk.
Today there was not response at all, but at driving the light in the switch was blinking and the alarm sounded constantly.
Any help please of how to fix the problem??

I look forward to hearing how this resolves. I have a 01 with a problem top.

You wrote... "driving the light in the switch was blinking and the alarm sounded constantly." So I would try to put top down partially again abd then re-close it again and perhaps that will stop the "blinking and chime/alarm". Once it is not working electrically there is not much to lose but can always be closed manually. Also there are two hole for two different tools.

Removing fuse 29 solve the problem of the chime, it stoped.
Sounds like i have to take it to a dealer to diagnose , seems like the control module save the error codes and Volvo and only Volvo have the scanner to read them. Does anyone know if it is possible that the top off in something like save mode to not to make more damage to it? Can it be that with this scanner could be reset? I felt around here the Volvo people dont care much about repairing and old car, for them 2004 is old, they rather to sell me a car. Would it do me any good to spend the diagnose money?

It should not cost more than half an hour to get the code(s) at the dealer, and they can quote you for the repair. They offer a lifetime warranty on parts and labor, or you can take the info and try to fix yourself.
