Interestingly on forums and in FCPs Videos Meyle seems to be hyped as good quality and german quality and whatever else parts. Yet most parts dealers and shops I´ve spoke to over the last years never heard or don´t recommend using Meyle (Before owning a Volvo I´d never even heard about Meyle). TRW has a strong following here, so does Lemförder.
Reminds me of the old European business theory from back in the days before globalization (thanks China for flooding the world with useless cheap thingies) where you´d have to think about exporting when your products weren´t good enough for the home market.

So true. Pretty much every large market seems to go this route - once there are a lot of players, the great majority of what you can buy is crap. Looks just like the real thing, but basically doesn't work.

The more I think about it, the more I think that the rubber on these tie rods, despite what's printed on the boots, isn't made in Germany.

I wish there were a way to find out how materials are sourced. I think car parts need a system like that's on clothing. There are various numbers on all garments that, among other information, identifies where materials are sourced from and which factory made that garment. This is desperately needed on car parts...

Very true.
I also don't like the fact alot of companies just relabel stuff they sell. Kinda makes the whole brand name idea useless if not every meyle or trw or whatever part is made by them but by the cheapest sub-company they can source it from.
