Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
That thing’s finally going to the crusher... it’s got 260ish k miles and it ran great, but the clutch hydraulics were pretty bad (couldn’t shift over like 3000 RPM and it didn’t grab well) and the body is pretty rusty... it was a NY car until the PO moved down here and sold it to my cousin not long after.
But he got a good 25k miles out of it! Not bad for a $600 car with absolute minimal repairs over that time!

What a beauty! I'm drooling over those wheels, too.bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 8:20 pm Last night's project... now to wait for my cousin to get over here and finish cleaning his mess!

Mine fell out too, seal was fine. I know the seal is cheap and available locally. Had car apart, and seal looked good. So it went back in. I will keep an eye on it, (I did know it was leaking), very easy to replace. Hardest part was getting the plugs wires off the distrubutor cap. Checked crankcase pressure and all good. Checked turbo pressure and it topped out at 4 psig.FLXC90 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 3:57 pmWas your seal dried to rock hard? If so it's not really a pressure problem. Pulled the cam seal on my 98 N/A after doing my PCV, and the intake cam seal literally fell out. The exhaust cam seal gave little resistance, and both were crusty. Fresh seals lasted through me, my son, and the dummy my son sold it to, who left it abandoned in a parking lot, where it was impounded and I expect, destroyed.1998v70xcbill wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 3:12 pm Going to add pressure guage to crankcase, to check pressure during wot (wide open thro). Blew shaft seal from cam shaft recently.
After that I'll check turbo pressure. Thinking I may neeed aux crankcase vent, (thinking with check valve).
New seals are cheap, easy to install, no adhesive required, and last about 240,000 miles. (when I swapped mine)

Lol it's a heap of junk, but it was one of the most reliable cars ever! He's holding onto the sticker bombed fender to put on a wall. He only did that because it was dented up.
As for the wheels, he needs to take the white plastidip off, they're a clean set of Perfos. I love them though, one of my favorite Volvo wheels.
Not sure if he's holding onto them or not... he swaps wheels between his cars like crazy. He also has a set of Canistos in the mix (they came on this car when he bought it last year) and Pegs on his S70 T5. These might end up on his 240, but the Propus Cs he has look awesome on that car. Plus they match my V70R's wheels!
