Discovered that the coolant level in the Silver Bullet ('00 V70 MT) was low, went to check the oil and found some troubling evidence.

Could be trouble or just slow speed kid hauling in cold weather. Get it out onto Death Race I287, get it up to 90 mph for 30 minutes (stay in slow lane so you don't impede traffic) then come back and show us your dipstick again, staying at least 500 meters from schools.

Yeah, that could be trouble if you do that too close to a school...

Suspension refresh work continues - got the front 2 subframe bushings swapped out after work (with ipd poly inserts). And talked with a welding shop to fix the lower shock mount bolt I snapped off last weekend.

The subframe bushings were tedious, so I think tomorrow I'm going to be more aggressive with the drill. Also, I noticed there are holes in the frame for spraying liquid penetrant on the Subframe bolts

When my cousin and I installed delrin subframe bushings on his car, we cut the outer shell of the old bushings with a sawzall, then hammered them out with a big screwdriver and a heavy hammer. They came out surprisingly easy! Then again, we had the subframe out of the car... not sure if you're doing it with the SF in place or not.

I'm doing it in place so I'm finding the best way for me is to drill up the sidewall to break the plastic ring tension. Doing the other two tonight so we'll see how it goes!

However I just found out atlwast one of my trailing arm bushings is shot :/ hopefully the trailing arm endlink bushings are ok though because that seems like it would be the real pain

Edit: I did the other 2, the last one took me 5 minutes to get out because I just drilled into 4 equal points at the edge so the drill bit ran up the sidewall and it came right out

Nice! Glad they’re all out, they can put up a fight!

I haven’t replaced trailing arm mounts/bushings on these cars, but from what I’ve seen it’s not the worst thing ever. Doesn’t look like the easiest either, unfortunately.
You just need the right press to pull them out. I believe there used to be a loaner tool floating around here on MVS, but I’m not sure if it’s still available.

The tool can be bought at FCP for about $80, but if you just put the tool on and crank on it, it will break.

Fire, drilling, and lube are your friends on the delta links.

Yes, you'll want all of the above. I've never heard of them just sliding right out!
