C70 B5244T 2000 wastegate pressure

Post by jantt » Mon Dec 26, 2016 12:56 pm

Hi

Found out that my wastegate don`t hold pressure (is leaking) so has to get a new one.

Here is my question : is my engine a B5244T or T2 or T3 or what ?

Understand that setting the pressure for adjustment is different (I have set mine to 0,4 bar) :

B5244T 12.5/0.125/1.81
B5244T2 30/0.30/4.35
B5244T3 12.5/0.125/1.81
B5244T7 12.5/0.125/1.81

Ok found out mine is a B5244T and shall have 12,5 kpa = 0,125 bar pressure on wastegate before you adjust it..
From factory it is set without pressure and found out that many has that.

Adjusted back to that and then adjusted it back one full turn.

That helped.

So now tuned from 193 bhp to around 280 bhp with Porsche tcv and a little more pressure on wastegate rod so boost is build up.

Be careful over boosting an ME7 car, post 1998.

I'm no expert on this but have read many warnings that this family can bend a rod I find you follow 1998 and earlier rules

Mine is a year 2000, but yes i have heard that I should stay under 300 bhp because of the rods.

Thought to install larger turbo, but will stay away.

"RN Series Inline 5-Cylinder 1999-2001
The early version of the RN block have lighter valve train components that is primarily a function of thinner valve stems and a solid valve train vs. the earlier hydraulic system in 1998 and earlier models. Be advised some early 1999 models still had hydraulic lifters so check your engine serial number to be sure. These early RN motors were also better able to handle higher RPM limits and better cylinder head flow from both the CVVT and the thinner valve stems taking up less room in the head intake runners. Rods were still a bit on the weak side which keeps this engine rated to approx. 315bhp in stock form"
