91b7 DTC Code after installing Sacer Unit - Idle is Flawless

Post by 88Jordan99 » Sat Jan 28, 2017 11:40 pm

Hi there, this is my first post so please forgive me if there is already a thread on this.

I have a 1999 V70 X/C Awd and I recently replaced the PCV system as well as modified my ETM with the SACER tps from ARDIdeas. At the same time in installed a new MAF from ipd. When I reassembled everything it started up first try with no hesitation and the idle was absolutely perfect, never better! And it still is. However, after about 4 drives or so the ETS light comes back on and as a result the cruise control will not work. I checked the code with my Autel scanner and it was a 91b7 code saying internal throttle fault. When I clear the code and DTC the cruise works again for about 4 more drives. Sometimes the ETS light doesn't come on but the cruise will not work. I've read that you can rotate the Sacer magnet to increase or decrease the voltage but during installation I did not see that to be possible, it was pretty snug. If there is a way to resolve this without removing the ETM again i would be ever so grateful. The thing that stumps me is why would the idle and acceleration be perfect if there was an internal fault? Ive literally had 0 other troubles other then the 91b7 code and cruise not working.

Sincerely,

88Jordan99
PS: Sorry about the rant :D

Greetings Jordan!

The software on these cars reports errors if it detects differences between the two sensors on the ETM of more than a set amount, but it will still let you drive the car. It immediately shuts off cruise as a safety feature on reading errors , though. It needs a drive cycle without errors to Turn it back on.

Can you read the actual Pxxxx code or the Code in format ECM-xxxx ?

On edit..found it. Info below. Looks like ETM isn't right

How do you feel about your soldering job?
Did you follow good instructions?

I think the soldering I did was pretty solid. All of the pins were completely covered in solder without any touching adjacent joints. Even the tps wire was flawless. Followed the instructions to the T. Thanks for your input abscate! Do you think that an etm software update would ignore the difference between the sensors therefore not trigger a code? If so how much do these updates cost, and are dealers the only ones that can do it? I can imagine they will find 100 other things that need "repaired" just to upcharge me when all i want is an update.

Sincerely,
Jordan

You can contact a dealer and ask if you have update installed. Have your VIN ready.

Just take it in for an oil change and ask what a software update costs. If there are problems

Plan B...contact Henry ( doublebug here) and do it over the Internet. I believe Henry is cheaper than the dealer.
