POLL: P80 - How much do you spend on parts per year?

Post by matthew1 »

How much do you spend on parts per year on your Volvo P80? No consumables -- oil, coolant, etc.

The average over the life of your P80 ownership.

Just parts please.

P80 is 850, S70, V70, C70 & V70-XC (1992-2000).

See the labor poll.

You want cumulative for all cars in fleet or average of typical 1 car. The amounts will be skewed depending on number of cars owned.

Just your average. If you only have records for say one car, just that one car then. If you have four and have a grand total, then divide by four then divide by car-years.

Daughter's S70 usually gets new parts 90% of the time while my car gets new parts 20% of the time. I spend more on tires than anything else.

My R has me invest 1500 or more a year, because I want to get it into the best shape possible.
My NA barely costs me 300 a year in parts

I averaged over the 5 years that I've owned my '95 854T. I purchased it with 198,000 miles on it and it now has 254,000.
There were a lot of items that the previous owner "let go" because it was just an old car to them.

Average over the 5 years?
$700 per year for parts.
$0 per year for labor since I do all the repairs myself.

I think that's pretty good for a car that was/is well worn.

I put down the 3k plus since I just completed a very comprehensive stage 0 using all blue box parts. Hopefully this coming year the parts costs should come way down. My jag is screaming for some attention and I do miss driving it often.

To clarify, do we include consumables like oil, filters, tires? Guess so, just to confirm.

Whoa! Did not consider oil. I change Mobile 1 when it starts looking un-new. That's at least six changes a year. I recently noticed that Home Depot has 5 qt. bottles for $10 less than AZ or O'R's. Has anyone used QS synth?
Life is like a box of chocol- make that an engine compartment. You never know where the tubes go or how to rout a belt 'less you read the diagram on the underside of the hood. Do it right the 2nd time. So when all else fails, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.
Be good do good feel good live good.

Ok. So on my s70 I had for 13 years now ist is about ~350 per year. If I include all the Maintenance & service stuff its about 500€. But that sometimes includes labour etc. so probably in the middle somewhere.
It was in good condition when I bought it.
