No, I did not remove the brake caliper. Plenty of room to get to the crankshaft pulley without doing that.beigg wrote:Is your caliper still hanging off the bracket?

Re: Unknown special bolts
Ok, if these special bolts hold the timing belt guard around the bottom of the crankcase pulley then I have two standard M7 bolts left over. That may be a better option. Thanks for inputs.beigg wrote:Bingo!MrPc wrote:Those bolts look vaguely familiar..... By any chance, do you still need to install the belt guard that goes around the bottom of the crankshaft pulley? It seems to me that those bolts are similar. IIRC the long nose helps get things lined up and the threads started. (Although I still found it a kinda hard...)
Re: Unknown special bolts
many thanks to all who contributed. They do belong to the timing belt lower cover. I've obviously fitted the cover with standard M7 bolts.skloon wrote:They look like the lower timing belt shield bolts

Re: Unknown special bolts
The now-extra M7 bolts may be for the upper, outer plastic timing belt cover, where it screws into the cam cover.

Re: Unknown special bolts
glad you didnt start it up. High probability for interference issues.
Such interference could cause catastrophic failures to an interference engine design!
