Front end clunk... Anyone tried these ?

Though this is a old post, my S80 had the exact clunk as described in the first post. I replaced everything including the rack with no avail until this year when I had new frame bushings, bolts, and washers installed. Finely the clunk is gone. So +1 for frame bushings. June

Yes, the subframe bushings usually begin to fail around that time and are a pain to replace. I just recently installed the iPd inserts in my V70R while I was reinstalling the subframe after installing the M56.

Usually if you have a clunking noise that almost sounds like something stretching, it's probably the SF bushings. Although if something if hitting the control arm, I would look into that first.

Did you happen to do a write up or any notes on the M56 install? I'm assuming you swapped from an automatic it sounds like.

Yup, I swapped from a dead AW55 5 speed auto to the M56. I don't have any writeup for mine, but PolskamafiaMJL made a great one: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=70637.
I also used a couple other threads from Volvospeed as well as some critical thinking to work through this swap, because I had to do a few things differently to make the FWD transmission work in the AWD chassis, namely the side transmission mount.
