Hey guys, just picked up my 98 c70 coupe the other day unfortunately it didn't come with a remote. Just the key. It has the flashing red light on the dash for the security system and everything that all works when I lock the car. Just wondering how to know which remote to purchase. I read somewhere to remove the glove box and the security system module was behind that and to get the number off of it. I did that but didn't see the security system module. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
New Remote

For a 98, the only way to get a working remote is to have it programmed by the dealer, or an independent shop that has a Volvo scan tool. It's usually expensive. It requires the pin number for the car, I'm not sure where to get that, perhaps that is the module you are referring to.
You may want to price out the programming options in your area before you decide whether or not to buy the remote.

'98 just needs a 9166200, new or used.
No PIN needed, but it does have to be
set up by a shop with the right gear.

I spoke a little too quickly in my first response...
To clarify - IIRC, you do indeed need the car's PIN,
but unlike the 99-00's, you don't have to have a
factory fresh remote that comes with a code.
