Daughter has a 98 S70, called me for a jump because it would not turn over. When i got there, the battery was fine, key turned everything on, but no connection to starter. Key could not be removed, and hazard lights would not turn off (still on 4 hours later)
Must be an electrical issue, anyone have any ideas?

Your alarm has been activated, try resetting with the key in the door lockdoshenjen wrote: ↑Thu Apr 05, 2018 8:50 pm Daughter has a 98 S70, called me for a jump because it would not turn over. 2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Sounds like two separate problems.
+1 on the alarm being triggered.
If the key fob transmitter doesn’t reset it, then using
the key in the driver’s door to Unlock from that key
cylinder should also disarm the alarm.
If the key isn’t coming out of the ignition
switch, very common issues are the shifter
release button in the shifter handle or the shift
lock override button on the shifter console.
These buttons often gets sticky over time, and can get
stuck when pushed. I’d look at the shift lock override
button carefully. It’s not generally used, is prone to
getting gummed up by spilled drinks and there’s a
pretty good chance that someone pushed it when
the car wouldn’t start and it’s stuck down. That will
lock your key very firmly in the ignition...
Be sure that the shifter handle button is released all
the way out and the shift lock override button is all the
way up, and you should be able to remove the key.
