So after much internal debating on whether or not to replace the rear main, front main, and rear cam seals, (due to an old PCV system that I also replaced, on my base non turbo 1999 V70) I did it. I pulled the engine and transmission. Replaced seals, reinstalled and it started and ran fine... till the battery died. The alternator was charging the battery prior to me pulling the engine, but now it dies once the battery starts run out of juice.
Thinking it was just the alternator that got covered in PS fluid, I went to a Pullapart and grabbed one out of a 2000 v70 and threw it on. Same issue, but the car ran longer as the battery was charged for over 24 hours.
Now I'm looking at around online trying to find a resource that could direct me to some wiring or grounds that I need to check to make sure everything is connected properly, although I am confident that I do have everything connected properly. I just need something to check as the alternator I pulled may be faulty I made sure to grab the best one that spins the right direction and didn't sound like it was worn out. I was also a Bosch alternator.
Anyways, has anyone else had a similar problem?

Re: Pulled the engine and now the battery will not charge.
I may sound weird, but is the serpentine belt routed properly?
Not charging may meant a fuse has blown or the power cables are not secured properly somewhere or even cracked under the plastic, I'd try looking along the cable from the alternator, fuse panels, etc May use a multimeter and start near the alternator and move away measuring the voltage at some points. Even a cheapo multimeter will do here
Coolant splash may not damage the electrical part but may not help with the bearings in the long therm

Is the battery light on the instrument cluster lit? If not I would check at the starter to make sure that the two large red cables got bolted back to the same stud.

So as it turns out, I did not have both large red cables connected to the starter. One was hiding on me and I missed it. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Lee
