Re: Turbo flange and down pipe?
Very enlightening, that answers my question I guess. Sounds like the lpt and hpt have the same flange setup so a T5 downpipe should fit in place of my glt downpipe!

Yep, looks like you are talking about a 2000 T5 downpipe (angled flange and downpipe) fits your 2000 GLT's existing flange, yes.
But a 98 T5 downpipe has a straight flange, you would have to grab the flange from the 98 T5 in addition to the 98 downpipe. The straight flange would then bolt right up to your turbo.
Flange to downpipe must match: straight to straight, angled to angled.
Flange to turbo just a V-band, completely interchangeable
Flange to exhaust manifold 4 nuts/studs, completely interchangeable
Redundant I know but hope to be clear.

The exhaust housing is machined with nothing to remove or change about the downpipe fit. It is either cast and then machined with the spherical ground area where the spherical flange on pipe with the floating three fastener retainer ring or it is the cast and machined version with a flat angled larger opening that accepts the fixed downpipe flange.

Mine is as Jimmy57 describes. A flat machined surface that is fixed.

Wow, so much info from one one question. I had no idea volvo had so many variations in such short order. Evidently my 95 T-5 is the conical "lame" flange and my 00 glt is angle flange. Sound like the angle flange is the most efficient tho.

anyone know the flex pipe lengths, from turbo to cat?
2.5" diameter I suspect. or is 2.75 better? or to be safe...
