P80 850 rear bumper bracket bolts (982831, M10x130mm)
Will be replacing my bumper brackets and need the 14mm bolts that secure bumper to frame. These are the upright bolts that break off when removal is attempted. Found a replacement PN 982831 but it is 10mmx130mm.Will it work? The one removed was 14mm.

That will not work, you will need to find an M14mm bolt with the same length as the old one.

I am not sure if hardware stores will have this size. But an alternative would be McMaster Carr. If it is M14 x 130mm long, then these could be used:

Disclaimer: I have not replaced these before, therefore I was searching for the dimensions you mentioned above.
Good luck, Dirk

I bought the correct Volvo parts ast year from Lisle
I think the shank is 10mm, the hex head size is 14mm
If you search the bolt part number you will find the thread

To expand on abscate's point: "M14" refers to a bolt that has a 14mm thread; the designation is independent of the head size. Volvo used lots of nonstandard fastener heads in these cars, so if you find one that'll fit the hole at a hardware store or similar, you may end up with a bolt that needs a different wrench.

The bolts changed on these. The old version had a parallel shaft and the newer ones have a taper shortly after the head. Don't like the new version at all. Guess maker of original no longer makes them and Volvo changed to best they could find.

I bought mine a couple of years ago from Tasca Ford. They had the complete set of bolts for brackets-to-chassis and bumper to brackets, as well as the brackets for post 93 850's, which are the same for both sides.
For the 93's, the brackets are different for each side and only the right side was available from Tasca (or anywhere else, I'm told).

The newer ones appear to be plentiful. I'll either go with them or do the hardware store/Mcmaster thing. I took a beautiful bumper from a parts car, both bolts destroyed in the process. There is a chance yet that the ones on my car, one off them anyway might survive and I'll use it as a template for a new set. Interesting that the one that breaks off is often the one right above the exhaust system, I guess getting the brunt of the heat from the muffler.

Replace that vertical bolt and take a good look at the brackets and hardware. It's cheap and you can slather noseize on them. I've got used ones for sale cheap....see picture. That's how bad this crap gets back there.
