Re: 13t boost questions
The 15g spools up slower than 13g, less effective in the lower RPM range even on a 2.4 engine, but has much better top end pull. Makes for a very fast wagon.
I put a 15g on my 98 LPT engine and swapped in a standard HPT tune, this is a well-tested and fun modification. This combination also does not bend rods, and with the right tune you can run even higher boost without engine damage but I defer to the tuners for that. Your point about lower compression in the 2.4 is spot on.

Re: 13t boost questions
What erikv said. But you do need the HPT tune in order for the ECU not to request too much boost low down from an unexpectedly large turbo.
15G boost with the right tune comes in at about 2300 rpm.

Re: 13t boost questions
Well.. if this is a tried and true mod I'll just try it out. Could I make 250 hp with injectors exhaust and a tune? That would definitely tide me over until I get my other 2.4 engine built for this car. For my final build I'm hoping to see around 300 to 350 wheel horsepower hence the need for the all wheel drive car.

Re: 13t boost questions
Your not listening, you dont need a tune for the first build, just the HPT CPU and the 15G. exhaust and RIP kit are bonus. That will get you to 250 area since you have more displacement and a 9-1 comp.ratio. However your knock sensor will definitely put the breaks on after a few seconds of boost.
for your second build you will need to drop the comp ratio I would think. not sure if anyone makes pistons for that engine in 8-1 comp.

300 HP will be almost half way to MF Jones 240...Gmstewart22 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 1:21 pm Well.. if this is arrived and true mod I'll just try it out. Re: 13t boost questions
Well... the B5244T5 is 9:1 - basically the same engine as OP, but with a K24 turbo and still ME7. Puts out about 255-260 IIRC. With the right “tune”, i.e. the correct programming on the ECU, there shouldn’t be any need to worry about pings and knocks.tardcart wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 3:25 pm Your not listening, you dont need a tune for the first build, just the HPT CPU and the 15G. exhaust and RIP kit are bonus. Re: 13t boost questions
may be you are right. I feel like something is shutting me down on a 2.3t with IPD tune otherwise stock. I assumed it was the knock sensor. would be nice to get real time interface with the computer to know what its thinking (too lean- ox sensor, or pump volume low) (knock detected) or maby the 15g just runs out of air at shift RPM. I dont think the 15g can handle WOT at full rpm. I did notice new pass . mount helped and figure the vibration was influencing the knock sensor. Any body have any experience with max boost possible with the knock sensor and no water injection or two stage fuel regulator?

Re: 13t boost questions
I was seeing 17-18 psi from my 15G in my 1997 850 T-5 and R ECU.
You need a boost gauge to do this stuff right, if you don’t have one.

I guess I will need to pick one up then, do you have any recommendations? *for a boost gauge*
