....and I nailed it today, working with wisechatmgr here in Albany

Short version, user error

The setup of the VVT was unamibiguous, but the timing procedure was not, in Alldata.

I locked the cams and did the VVT hub install correctly, one notch before mark.

I then timed it with the VVT hub clocked full clockwise.

This is wrong and puts you two notches advanced.

With 42 sprocket gears, each one is 360/42 = 8.6 cam degrees and thus 17.2 crank degrees.

The entire range of the reset valve (VVT solenoid and hub) is only +-20 degrees, so 2 teeth is way out of range.

I finally understood that the timing marks have to be set after the 1/2 crank past and return, so the VVT hub is clocked fully COUNTERCLOCKWISE.

Once I did this, My cam flanks came in at -16 degrees, roughly.

-16 degrees crank is one notch CAM, I retarded the VVT one notch, and the cam flanks all came in under 2 crank degrees.

P0014 ECM 644A cleared and the CEL stayed off.
