Air Conditioning Not Shutting Off after leaving car 2013 XC90
Air Conditioning Not Shutting Off after leaving car 2013 XC90
Ok so the AC blower was replaced recently and things started to act up. The A/C takes about 5 minuters to start cooling. Plus in order to make the A/C kick in I need to start the car with the left and right temp nobs turned all the way to the left. After i start the car, if i move the temp controls a notch to the right the blower slows all the way down even though its 90 degrees outside. When i left the car this morning the blower was still going and I thought it would stop on its own but it did not. Now the battery is drained and I am waiting for AAA. Please help. Thanks.

AC blower? You mean cabin fan or blower motor? Who did this job? What parts you used? It seems that you have cause-effect relationship here. You replaced part-electrical gremlins started. I would go back to the sourse. Find yourself a good wiring diagram and find what is going on. If you have vida/dice it will be great to read if there any codes in climate control unit.

The resistor is in the fan housing itself,

It controls fan speed from digital input provided by the Climate Control Module. Maybe try a system reboot by disconnecting the battery, waiting a few minutes, turning the key to position II, and reconnecting the battery.

Lets think about it. What happened to the prior motor? Was it working good, but noisy? Or it was seezed due to rust, water....
Capndirk suggestion about resistor is totally great. You usually replace both items at the same time, especially if there was internal damage to the blower unit which was causing resistor to overheat.
I would vote to go to salvage yard and pick yourself 1-2 resistors and try them on. If the system is back to normal-either keep it with the used unit vs invest into quality(not propartsweden or other 30-50 dollar units) resistor and drive happy.
If resistor is not fixing the issue you will need to be able to read the codes in the climate control unit and have a scope to check signal wire at resistor. Power and grounds are great since we're able to drain your battery.

Your AC climate module is not getting info on the interior temp. Full cold on the knobs forces the system on, any other setting regulates to set temperature. If it isn’t getting data it won’t turn on. After run is normal with these systems as it keeps the evaporator dry. Again, without data on temp it gets confused.
Look at the interior cabin temperature sensor for blockage and fuzz.

Reinstalled the old resistor and fan now runs and shuts down when the engine is turned off. All as expected. Cooling issue persists. Starts off warm and starts to cool if car is moving. Gets cool after 5 minutes. If standing still the a/c slowly warms back up. Does anyone have any ideas?
