Volvo XC90 - Why you love yours!

Help, Advice, Owners' Discussion and DIY Tutorials on Volvo XC90s. The XC90 proved to be very popular, and very good for Volvo's sales numbers, since its introduction in model year 2003 (North America).

Purchased 2005 XC90 T6 AWD a year ago, low cost, with a blown engine.
Original owner purchased it from Volvo Sacramento, Ca. Traded it in to a Volvo Dealer in 2015 in Florida, 129000 miles on it. Dealer in Sacramento, (original selling dealer bought it). Then sold it via auction, don't know why, November 2017. new owner failed to repair a leaking heater hose, which he knew about, and the engine overheated and failed. I purchased from him for $500.00.
Installed a used engine after refurbishing it. Rear Drive shaft was missing, removed for some reason, still don't know why. Installed a new one purchased online. Had many codes and I spent a year clearing them all and learning a great deal about the Vehicle at the same time. All is great now. the problems really were not about the vehicle, but were about the owner's and/or maintainence shops, not knowing about them and taking care of them. I would not trade it for the world right now. it is a great vehicle that I am very happy with and will not doubt upgrade some time in future years. I have 150000 miles on it. Love it. Very nice riding and handling. i have owned S10 Blazer, Suburban and other 4WD vehicles. I will keep this one. Also, Love VIDA....

PS:
sorry, forgot.

Transmission appears to be new and have been replaced at sometime during its lifetime before I obtained it.

Living in MN. On auto, the blower doesn't turn on until the engine reaches temp.

Knock wood, my 2004 T6 is over 100K and no real issues except for the DEM which I sent to XemodeX. I've done timing belt and other normal maintenance.

I choose to attract attention. But of whether it’s clothing or cars. That means that the XC90 is surely right for me. Although I would have favored one in a flashy color, such as a strong turquoise blue or orange.

Wow, that's a new one.
I've seen some of the R-Designs in Red which is pretty hard to miss, but hadn't really noticed any other "Flashy" colors.
Thanks for adding to the thread.

I am a new XC90 owner and I can relate. Previously I drove a yellow 2000 Dodge Ram 1500, with a beautiful sounding aftermarket exhaust. I'll miss her, but a growing family means I need a 3rd row. I stumbled across this article while shopping for my XC, but was all too disappointed when I realized they never produced them in Yellow: https://www.swedespeed.com/news/publish ... e_432.html

I'll be a little happier when I remove my muffler in a couple weeks. After that I just need to track down some lowering springs... I love the car though; the Yamaha V8 is much quicker (and better on gas) than the old 5.9L Chrysler V8.

Is the Volvo XC90 a good car?
Im looking to help my dad swap my moms current car for the XC90 that she has wanted for a long time. Anything bad about the car.

I know the T6 has lots of issues so i am going to stay away from a T6.

Other than that i have notticed the T5's are pretty reliable and dont have any issues...

Whats your opinion on this vehicle...
