Re-upping previous post- XC90 No start

Help, Advice, Owners' Discussion and DIY Tutorials on Volvo XC90s. The XC90 proved to be very popular, and very good for Volvo's sales numbers, since its introduction in model year 2003 (North America).

Old post but...

Is there anything one can do "preventively"?

1. Relocate it to inside the car?

2. Clean the connectors and somehow seal it tight?

PS: According to another DIY (see the excellent link below)...

Volvo PN 30742823 ($280) = Bosch 0 580 001 002 = Ford 4N5T-9C105-AG (cheaper than Volvo pricing)

Checking the Fuel Power Module

Post by cn90 » Sun Jul 06, 2014 4:47 pm

Finally I have some time to remove the FPM for inspection.

1. RR wheel removed, car on jack stand/floor jack etc.

2. Remove 10-mm plastic nut and folded liner over (I used the RR door to jam it out of the way).

3. Some fine sand particles around connector but no corrosion. So after 9-10 years in Nebraska, not bad at all considering that this State uses mostly sand > salt in the winter.

4. I cleaned all sand particles, apply a tiny smear of grease to keep corrosion out, buttoned everything back together.

Photos for the records...
