If you were to get the Volvo branded bulbs ($45 ea.) here: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... ine-989833 They have a lifetime warranty on all of their parts and I know firsthand that they honor the warranty. Seems like a good deal.

HOLY COW! Thank you!! This is turning out to be the best forum! Two other forums (not to be named) have yet to respond and that's been over a month now. I will check that out. One quick questions. One of the posters talked about "genuine" OEM bulbs that were not necessarily on the best quality. I am surprised how reasonable these bulbs are.

The Volvo bulbs will be good. I use nitrile gloves when changing bulbs to assure that I don't get skin oils on them, as I've heard that can cause hot spots in the glass and reduce the life of the bulb. Let us know!

Yes that is critical with any discharge lamp or higher wattage halogen filament bulb over 10 watts or so. I go so far as to clean them with rubbing alcohol and a *clean* microfiber right out of the packaging. I usually handle them with a paper towel. Latex/nitrile gloves often have a light powder of unknown composition to help facilitate getting them on/off your hands.

THANKS! I did know about oils and handling but did not know about the light powder. Will follow to a T. Fingers crossed! Oh, while at it. Any tips for trying to "center" those bulbs in the protective metal cage...or whatever it's called. Mind often get stuck or cattywunked.

www.powerbulbs.com
Osram Xenarc Cool Blue Intense D2R. $59.39 USD

Osram is Sylvania in USD, WWW.powerbulbs.com is in GB I believe.
These bulb are 6000k .
You have to be careful buying Osram, Phillips, Sylvania stuff because people are selling knock offs, my bulbs actually came with special stickers that you have to match up with on Osrams website. If the numbers don't match you get a refund.
Check out the website there's plenty of information on there.

Fcpeuro.com is probably the best EDM vehicle parts source via the internet. I've been doing business with them for atleast a decade for my Volvo's and other EDM models. I've used there lifetime warranty a few times with a part that was well over the 1year standard manufacturer's warranty and they honored there warrant without question. They actually upgraded a part from aftermarket to Volvo Genuine once because the aftermarket fuel pump was removed from there website due to defects. Great Volvo parts source!!

SORRY, LONG POST.

With the continuing saga of HID Headlights 101, I learned a lot. Don’t know if I can upload all the pics. May have to put two posts together to make it work. So, first the good part: I bought the FCPEURO HID Volvo headlights per member’s recommendations and they came uber quick. Now, everything is in place, the lights are bright and I learned how to adjust my headlights. I can’t believe how easy it is, thanks to YouTube. I.e. I’m good to go…finally.

The “bad” or awkward news: I am embarrassed to say that the overly bright headlamp that was a generic clone headlamp was not really “much brighter” than the Philips. What I did not realize is that my headlights were “cockeyed”. That is, one was lower than the other. Just a couple twists with the socket wrench and that was that. Trouble is, I spent probably a half day trying to determine why the one was brighter. At this point I had put the new lamps in and the one was still brighter so I knew it wasn’t a fluke with the generic light. In buying used headlights on Ebay you always take a chance. in this case everything was fine…except the flanges were busted off and, as you can see, I had to jerry rig them to secure them to the frame. Yeah, ugly, for sure but it works!

Ps. Yesterday was the first time I was out at dark to use them. 1. They were just awesome. 2. FINALLY, high beams that work 3. No light flashes from oncoming traffic which had me the most worried. Even carried a mini socket wrench in the console to adjust on the side of the road. LOL!
