Re: 2005 XC90 T6 Executive Project Car.
I'm at a loss. I can't find your pipes that bulge in the parts listing, the parts listing only looks like what I posted before. What's on the bottom of your "bulge" parts?
Other question: is you XC90 US Spec, or elsewhere? One would presume US Spec, since you're in Kansas, but sometimes one never knows...

It is "US Spec". Volvo AME partner group to be precise.

Re: 2005 XC90 T6 Executive Project Car.
Project put aside as I get the '98 C70 ready. She going to take the C70 to visit her brother who lives 1200 miles away in Virginia.
After that, I'm going with Option 2: Forge ahead on the engine, Plugs, PCV. Timing Belt service and possibly a new set of injectors. Deal with the exhaust system later if it turns out it is restricted.

Re: 2005 XC90 T6 Executive Project Car.
Went to change the Oil Trap on this 2.9 today. The lower bolt appears to be behind the alternator mounting bracket.
Can somebody that done one, confirm this is the case or tell me otherwise?
PS: Never mind, I found the notch in the mounting bracket that give one access to the Oil Trap bolt.

Re: 2005 XC90 T6 Executive Project Car.
On the plastic intake pipe: On mine, with about 150k, while chasing turbo charger over boost issues, I found mine was also leaking a bit of air through the seals. For a short term fix I took copper wire and wrapped around the plastic so that the seals would compress. I bought a new part from the dealer for about $175.00.
During the process I learned that the type on our car is the upgraded part - it has the baffles. Apparently these are to lessen the turbo whistle as owners were complaining about it to the dealership. That said, one can source a used plastic intake pipe from an early model S80 which does not have the baffle, hence no seal. (I would not buy a used upgraded part as the seals most likely are no better). I read about one person who did the backwards design swap with success and liked the slight spool up sound. I just wanted the issue resolved so I bought the new part. If you have easy access to a wrecker it may be worth buying the early design - just make sure the rest of the plastic is solid, especially at the joints where it mates to the AL runners.
I did not find any reference to replacement seals. I also expect the design anticipates some leakage - otherwise they would not have used the seals. How much - who knows. I do know that before I had work done on mine I did not have any issues with the existing leakage - ultimately my problem was not the intake pipe, but the shop flipped my hoses around.

Re: 2005 XC90 T6 Executive Project Car.
I'm thinking a light coat of RTV on both sides of the rubber seal to seal up the baffles.SuperHerman wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:35 pmOn the plastic intake pipe: On mine, with about 150k, while chasing turbo charger over boost issues, I found mine was also leaking a bit of air through the seals. There is a '04 XC90 T6 at the local PnP, no baffles, $21.00 for both.

Re: 2005 XC90 T6 Executive Project Car.
I would go the $21.00 route and be done with it. When I looked I was seeing prices around $50 plus shipping - so for the extra hundred and the fact I didn't want to have issues with a flunky part I bought new. You can always try the RTV if you don't like the "cool kid" whistle.

Medium size vacuum line broken, shares a tree with the intake manifold and the purge valve.RickHaleParker wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2019 7:15 pmFails Intake Vacuum test: No Vacuum, +3 PSI pressure with engine at 4000 rpm.
