Hi, Looking into fixing my daughters 2008 XC90 3.2L. She has a squeal coming from the belt pulley area that essentially goes away when she accelerates and then comes back when she coasts or comes to a stop. Sometimes its not there on a complete stop. I have heard this before with other cars and its always the belt tensioner.
Does this sound correct?
I am looking at doing the work this weekend. here is what I believe I need to do.
After digging into this a bit more I feel that I am able to do this job with about 60 dollars with a parts.
Fischer Tensioner
Idler pulley
Serpentine Belt
will need to remove Intake box and fuse box for more room
19mm wrench on tensioner to remove pressure
loosen A/C compressor and brackets and power steering reservoir to move out of way
disconnect water pump from pulley system to allow new serpentine belt
remove tensioner
remove idler pulley
replace tensioner with pin to lock it in position to not put tension on belt
route new belt in place
refasten A/C compressor and brackets
refasten water pump
install idler pulley
reinstall intake box and fuse box
does that sound about right? missing anything?

I don't have a 3.2, but had seen this on the other forum. See especially post 7.

This was just the oil trap issue with to much vacuum. Pulled oil fill plug and noise disappears.
I replaced tensioner and idler pulley and it was excessive vacuum and bad oil trap.
