Parts Compatibility - Downpipe

Post by Stark77 » Thu Dec 06, 2018 10:50 am

Hey, folks! I bought a 2004 S80 2.5T with 100k miles on it from the estate of a neighbor who passed away - she was original owner with very detailed service records - about a month ago. I have loads of euro tools from my Benz (totaled from Hurricane Michael) and am pretty handy. I've noticed there's a serious lack of performance parts that are specific to the S80, but NO shortage of parts for the 2.5T powerplant. I've already BSR tuned it, but have a set of "R" exhaust manifold to toss on and a 16T turbo with billet wheel to throw on, as well, when the weather warms up.
The problem I'm running into comes from the turbo back - I'm not finding any reasonable exhaust options besides custom. Has anyone taken a S60 or V70 2.5T downpipe and tossed that onto an S80 chassis? I still haven't crawled (creeped) under the car yet to check out exhaust paths. But, I wanted to ask y'all to see if anyone has gone this route before I seek out a custom-fabricated exhaust. Also, what mufflers are popular with this type of engine? Most of my experience is with V8's, so I'm not sure what muffler option would go well on a 5 cylinder turbo motor. I love the vehicle so far, it's super low-key and has great potential to hurt some feelings/surprise some folks during my commute.

Yep fits, just make sure that its for a FWD (not AWD), if its a angled flange and you are all set. I couldnt find a proper downpipe for my S80 2.4T, but doublechecked with BSR and they confirmed it should fit (which it does :) ).

Hahah nice to see I have the same planning (also 16T with R manifold).

Im currently in the process of buying a 3" stainless exhaust, my main criteria was that it needed to be stealth, like the OEM exhaust. The only one I found so far is this one from Sweden:

The Simons one looks likes it needs a cutout of the bumper, although not sure.

Wow - thanks for the quick reply! Once the weather warms up, I hope to get all of this installed into the car (going to check PCV as well, but records show it's been serviced within the last 10k miles). I need to get the inside of the R manifold cleaned up, it came off a salvaged S60R with over 100k miles and the carbon build ups are THICK! Will you be swapping injectors?

Yes I will, but I dont know yet if I need the white, blue or green ones.

350cc (white) bosch partnr 9454557 - 98 T5 models

395cc (blue) bosch partnr 9186060 - 99+ T5 models

465cc (green) bosch partnr 9202100 - S60 R

[edit]
I would advice to check it, for peace of mine.

I was tipped of by this when I swapped the stock intake pipe with a silicone version. I then checked & serviced the PCV...

Wow, that’s a huge amount of buildup! Had you been using synthetic or conventional oil?
