considering an s80 to wing it until 98 xc is back up Topic is solved
I have been staying at home almost ALL the time and cannot wait another 2 months until i get my 98 xc back up. I found a good deal on a decent condition 2002 s80 2.9 all basics. Cant remember mileage. Need info on negatives/bad things. Very interested in this car. Said i would never go past 98 ever again but here i am in need of a cheap car.

Once in about 100-200 cars you find the gem of a cared-for P80 or early P2 for $1500, but if you haven't looked at 200 cars, that's the Devil tempting you with another PIA that will suck your wallet dry
These are high end cars with expensive parts. Thats why the last so long. When a part does need replacing, it hurts, because you are replacing for another 250,000 miles.
Unfortunately there are few in-between parts vendors that make 50-100k parts that can help the running budget on Volvo - it tends to be either Volvo part/OEM or absolute rubbish.

$750 is my budget and all the 90s American crapper cars are just that. The s80 I negotiated for $750 at max. Apparently it has nothing wrong with it and has some new parts, but the seller is posting for his brother. I found that the t6 up until 2003 has trans issues but this is the base low powered model. Close to specs of 201-2005 impala. i assume its the same trans.abscate wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 8:55 am Once in about 100-200 cars you find the gem of a cared-for P80 or early P2 for $1500, but if you haven't looked at 200 cars, that's the Devil tempting you with another PIA that will suck your wallet dry
